it's that time of year to give back to the community, so i figured i'd do something fun, original and, yes, profitable to those who participate.
so, here goes.
for this little self-funded event of mine, everyone and i mean everyone is elidgeable.
so heres the what why and how.
what is this?

well, in this thread write a letter to a fake gw-santa, explaining all the good things you have done, and why you should be selected to be the recipiant of the prize.
OR
you can write a little x-mas story about a GW character or pet or whatever.
numerous things will be taken into account.

out of the entries i will personally choose 10, number each entry 1-10 and then use /roll 10 to decide the winners, to give it a little bit of randomacy.
3 winners for this event will be chosen, the first being 1st place, the seccond being second and the third /roll being third place.
and the prizes?

1st place: 100k
2nd place: 50k
3rd place: 30k
numbers 4-10 will each recieve 10k for getting thus far.
(in-game gold, of course).

in total the prize amounts to 250k

so there, you have it, write your own little x-mas letter or story, and may the best man win!

-Akh.

edit:
i didnt add an ending date, so here goes.
i'm gunna say this coming thursday, just to give myself enough time to read the entries...i posted this thing only a few hours ago and already three pages, so i imagine i'll have a novel and a half to read by thursday.
hopefully i'll have all the reading done by saturday (i hate work...) so i can give out the prizes some time on x-mas eve.
anyway, we have some nice entries so far, i've had a few laughs reading some of them...keep it up guys.
-Akh.

I'll be number 1.

Dear Guild War Santa

My name is Sir Skulkcrasher. You may know me as Grim Skybasher in game. Hope you doing well giving out Christmas Presents to different peopls in Tyria. I have done alot of good things to help peoples. From giving out free weapons or items to random people. To stoping in town and random join a party to help out even if i done with the mission. I might be the unluck person out there in the community. Never got a black dye drop, not golds for 15k armors, never got those leet or uber greens or gold weapons. Everywhere i look, no one want to take a tank. Instead i get rejected over people like monks, MM, or SS. Yet i still helped people out when i can. I had farm for items but so far nothing exciting to get. Was thinking of giving out greens item to my guildmates cuz their so helpful. But all my farming run, i have seen the best items going to other players. Like Rago Flame Staff, Razorstone, Brohn Staff, and others. So for this Christmas I ask you santa to give me some luck and maybe some nice present for my stocking.

Thanks,

Sir Skulkcrasher

Thumbs up

Dear Guild Wars Santa Claus,

My name is Batou of Nine. I am an evil monk (or elf). I often join in groups in Ring of Fire missions Sorrow's Furnace groups or Underworld and Fissure of Woe groups JUST to piss people off. I will either not heal, simply go afk, or randomly leave the group unannounced. To by spiteful, i sometimes also over aggro mobs, in order to get 15-20 monsters to massacre my party. Please do not show up in Lyons Arch this christmas, as i will most likely try to assasinate you....

...*wakes up* What? Huh? oh, all a bad dream, yikes!! Thats not me at all! Maybe a reflection of what i feel like doing half the time in Pick up Groups? lol, i am quite the opposite however. Always nice, always helping guildies and the random call for help in public chat channels. Often running people for free to places, and ALWAYS willing to help a person finish missions, quests and the like. In fact, in my guild, i have a reputation for being the go-to guy for ANY help whatsoever... In fact whenever we get new members that are still farily new to the game, other guildies tell the new members to whisper me for help... Gets tiring, but i try to keep my intregrity!

Merry CHRISTMAS!!! HAppy Chanuka!!! Merry Quanza??? HAPPY/Merry ChristmaChanuQuanzica!!!

Dear Guild Wars Santa,

I have tried my best to be a helpful person this year, giving away lots of things to random ppl and my guildies. My guildie i gave 2 ectos because it was his bday. To others i gave runes, dyes, and many other things away to the poor with my lottery and Gw jepaordy and quizzes. I am broke now, from helping all the poor people who cant just get enough for whether its their armor or weapon, or just a simple little quest. I tried being a gw santa this year, but i couldnt due to the lack of things i have(because i gave alot away to ppl). I'm sure i've called a person a "noob" once in awhile, but doesnt helping other new people make that up? If I don't win this letter contest from you, I still want you and everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Love,

Dear Guild Wars Santa,

I have been very nice this year. I pwnt some n00bs yesterday, just like you told me to last year! YES! My constant scamming has made me realize that people are... DUMB! I will leave a sack of money for you, but watch out for the Everlasting Firestorm and Spike Trap I put near the fireplace. GIMME GOLD SANTA!

~Liquid

(More of a joke. There are much better people to give this to than me. No scamming has been done on my account, but pwnage... well... whisper anyone in my guild. They will tell you that I PWN )

Dear Guild Wars Santa,

Looking back at this year, I hope you will see how much my good has outdone the bad. After all, shouting healing monk LFG at random missions when you are a ranger, isn't all that bad is it? Anyways, when I play my Ranger or my Warrior this year, I frequently ran friends and strangers to far away places, requesting nothing from them because of how much I love running. The tips were nice and have all gone towards making either mine or my friends characters look nicer in 15k armor. Once my Ranger learned how to go on chest runs, I stopped running people. But since chest runs seem to contain more less than perfect items than not, I gave away many of these items. Though I will say, you can't blame me for selling some to the merchant, they were just horrible. I'm a great team player, and my Necro loves changing his build to suit your teams needs. If you don't choose me, thats ok, I'm sure in all your wise ways, you will have your reasons for choosing who you do, and I wouldn't doubt for a moment that they be the best 10 people in the whole world of Tyria.

Thank you Guild Wars Santa Clause, for listening to me, and for taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this for us, as if the cool new toys wasn't enough. Thank you, thank you. I hope to see you visit Tyria this Christmas, you'll make hundreds of thousands of people happy.

Dear Guild Wars Santa,

Plix, here, the little Warrior/Necro. It's been a rough month but I've finally done it, I reached level 20 yesterday. What a great day it was, finally making it to the max so I can finally be like the big boys, but trust me, it wasn't easy. I've gone through almost all of the game with PUGs and I've pretty much seen every type, but regardless I stuck with them to the very end. I've never used caps or spammed in chat, and always tried to show proper decorum when talking to others.

This is my first character and it sure has been fun, and I've been helped greatly by many people, especially by my guild. My guild leader helped me get Droks armor so now I'm trying to repay him by helping other guildies get some pieces of Droks armor in exchange for a promise that they too will do the same, so the cycle of helping will continue constantly, and more and more people can be helped. Even if I don't recieve the award, make sure it goes to someone deserving and who truely needs it. Thanks for reading and I hope you drop by over Tyria and help as well.

Sincerely,
Plix

PS: Stay away from the eggnog. I think I saw one of the White Mantle take a leak in it. And Merry Christmas to all.

Dear GW Santa,

I like Guild Wars, isn't that good? Well, Since I bet it isn't, I'll just tell you a little story of how I made some friends. Well, First I met this poor little guy in Ice Caves of Sorrow with Green, red, blue and yellow dyed armor. He said it was from Ascalon City. I felt badly for him, and therefore purchased an entire set of Droks Knights armor. Then there was this other guy named Death Revelation. He wanted some black dye for his 15k armor. Well, I thought it looked like shit the way he had it so i loaned him 40k. He's still in my guild . Later something bad happened to me. I was running around Droks Dis 1, when some guy advertised "Selling HoD axe +55 HP for 100k!". I had recently seen a post on GwG saying that this item was worth over 200k! Well, being an idiot, I looked at the axe and i supposed it was right, because I had never heard of any other axe that could have +55 HP. Well, Needless to say I am now very low on cash, and I can't really afford the time to farm anymore (Exams). Eh, By the way Santa, Please reward Akhilleus 1 million Fame for pwning Marik, that was hilarious. And Give him GL on that Eternal shield .

Thanks Santa, ur 1337.

Well, I've been all over Tyria, and in my travels I've met quite a few people. Several of them recently wanted me to drop a couple of letters off with you for them. Being the nice guy I am, I thought I'd oblige and play postman. Here ya go Santa, hope you enjoy:

Dear Guild Wars Santa,

You really must exist! Even though my old man McCain told me you didn't exist last year, I didn't really believe him and now I know for sure that you do indeed spread joy throughout Tyria! Thank you so much for having the nice man, Warden Dios, return Oink to me! It's the best gift I could ever have recieved! The man who brought back Oink said he didn't know anything about you, but I understand you want to stay secret, otherwise those rumors about your existance wouldn't be floating around. Anyway, I just had to write a letter to thank you. I'll be a good boy next year too, just to make up for how good a gift this was.

Thanks again from the happiest boy in Tyria, Cheswick

Dear Guild Wars Santa,

I don't know if you had a hand in it, but I figure you must have. Who else in Tyria could have seen my dreams and brought me just the person who could make them a reality? About a week ago, the love of my life didn't even know I existed. Aidan, that cutie, didn't even throw a glance my way when he passed by. I knew Chrismas would soon be here, so I thought, "I'll get him the perfect gift, then he'll notice me!" I knew instantly that I needed to get him a hunter's horn. Not just any hunter's horn, but a horn that has been blessed in the waters of a healing spring. I knew that I'd be able to fashion a hunter's horn from that old Minotaur horn I bought from that canthan trader so long ago, but once I had it fashioned, I had no idea how I could get it blessed! It was beyond my abilities, but this very day, Warden Dios came striding up and asked how he could help me. I told him about the horn and he said, "No prob Bob!" took the horn and was off down the road before I could tell him my name wasn't Bob. Later this afternoon Aiden came by to thank me for the horn! We've spent the entire evening together and I think he really likes me now! This is the best gift I could ever have recieved! Thank you so much Santa!

In your debt, Chantalle the Troubadour

Dear Guild Wars Santa,

<3. To prove to you that I always help out, here are some examples.

1. I made a pre searing character just to help out new people, taking them all the way through pre and offering guild membership. =P meh i helped at least.

2. I've given out something like 100k to members who are obviously poor and dont beg.

3. I hardly ever flame or not be nice.

All of these are reasons why I have been helpful this year. I always help out!

<3 Santa,

Dear guild wars Santa.

You know... its been pretty rough this year the Charr invaded Ascalon and driven me from it. Only to come to know that in the Shiverpeaks a band of dwarves calling themselves Stone Summit were doing bad things good thing i always have my guild to fall back on... To make a long story short Santa its been a hard year, i'm tired of all the evil lurking around in Tyria... And would yust love to see Christmas this year, the smile on the kids faces, the snowball fights with Cynn and Mhenlo, but most off all buying presents for those who'm i love and cherish.

Thanks for reading. Youre trusty ranger: Melandrus Eyes
Happy Christmas!

Dear Santa,

After travelling Ascalon, helping people, healing my fellow team mates, killing beasts, give gold to the needy people, fighting the unspeakable in the Underworld and the Fissure, scouring the Crystal Desert, tackling the trials of Ascension and defeating the Lich in the ring of Fire, I've traveled to the now peaceful Shiverpeaks. There, in the far snowy reaches, I've nestled myself in a nice little house with those cute turtle-like roofs where I await your visit with some hot cocoa and grog, dressed in lacy garnments that are in dire need of some... infusing. (wink wink)

Won't you visit me for a spell?

To make a long letter short(and the other stuff i forgot i didnt include here), I should recieve the prize because i'm poor but heping beginners in Ascalon. Hehe, I gotta do that for my mesmer..

Dear Santa,

we have a problem, you and me.

first off, I want to know why people include me on their friends list!

all I do is go UW (you know, the place where dead people are supposed to live?) and make monsters down there kill themselves, (I promise, I haven't killed anything or anyone, they committed suecide, not my fault they fight while having mindwrack and spirit shackles on them, is it?) and I've carefully avoided killing the spider the rangers on the various teams have wanted to tame. (not that it wasn't tempting!) next thing I know, I've been included on someones list of 'nice' people, all cause they got the spider.

secondly, can I get you to make sure my sister DOESN'T get any alcohol this year? she has a drinking problem already without your help.

and lastly, if I cast backfire, empathy and wastrel's worry on you, will you cast through it?

signed: a very much dead Joe Skase
